Why does membership matter?
By law, a Residents' Association needs at least 50% of leaseholders as members before it can be formally recognised. Recognition gives it the legal right to be consulted on service charges, request information from the landlord, and represent residents' interests. Without it, residents have far less power to hold management to account.
